Tony Harper and Dave Whitfield Ranked 1-2 in District 12 AA

Updated on 06/10/2022

Pre-season rankings are set on pa.milesplit.com, as they have Tony Harper and Dave Whitfield as the top two returning athletes in District 12 AA this upcoming cross country season. Both are looking to compete at a higher level than ever before! Dave Whitfield is coming off of an outdoor track season where he set the school and district record in the 800. Tony, a two sport athlete in the fall, is looking to continue to impress after placing at DELCO Championships in both the mile and 3200 outdoors in 2016. Dave and Tony are both ready to do a lot more than waht the pre-season rankings say!

With the addition of Rob Radico, Semaj Jenkins, Jarrett Moses and Arian Ravenell, as well as having Junior Bobby Ulmer on the team, the cross country season is getting exciting heading into official practices on August 15th.

It's never too late to join the program! If you are interested you can reach out to Coach Kee via e-mail or join us at practice starting August 15th!

Practice will be held at Rose Tree Park at 6:00 PM. The cross country program continues to look towards a strong future.

Harper, Whitfield Go First Team All Catholic, Friars Finish 8th Overall

Tony Harper and Dave Whitfield had one goal going into Philadelphia Catholic League Championships on Saturday, October 22nd. That goal was to finish in the top 15 to go 1st Team All Catholic, mission accomplished.

Tony finished 11th overall, barely missing a top 10 spot, while Dave Whitfield fought to the finish for his 14th overall finish. Both Dave and Tony were happy with their place after the race, but knew they could have gone faster. That opportunity will come as Dave and Tony look to lead the Friars into District 12 Championships and surprise team favorites Conwell Egan and Lansdale Catholic, both teams that were surprised with the finish of the Friars on at PCL Champs!

The boys team were not favorites to finish in the top five, they were, however, predicted to finish 8th with no fight for any team ahead of them. The Friars took that to heart.  They ran the best the could to end in a tie to Archbishop Carroll, only to lose to Carroll on the 6th runner tie.

The Friars look to return to Belmont Plateau on Thursday to defend their District 12 AA title against meet favorite Conwell Egan Catholic and Lansdale Catholic.

District 12 Boys Team Breakdown: O'Hara vs. LaSalle in AAA; B&P, Masterman are favorites

Updated on 06/10/2022

Bonner & Prendie will be favored to repeat as D12-AA champs, despite the loss of last year's individual champ Sean Sullivan. The key for B&P will be finding some depth after its two leaders, David Whitfield and Anthony Harper (above). If they can do that, it should be smooth sailing.

Last year's runners-up, Lansdale Catholic, will also need to find a few runners to try and challenge B&P. Science Leadership Academy and Simon Gratz will look to mix it up as well.
